- External Assessors (EA)

External Quality Assurers (EQAs)
External Quality Assurers support and monitor the high-quality delivery of our qualifications. EQAs will maintain effective working relationships with centres and City & Guilds planning and monitoring quality assurance in line with our qualification requirements and policies.

EQAs will need the following skills and experience
- The ability to work through the medium of Welsh
- D32,33 and 34 or A1 and V1 or TAQA Assessor and Internal Quality Assurer qualifications
- D35 or V2 or TAQA External Quality Assurer qualification, or prepared to work towards this
- Occupationally competent and current in the portfolio areas externally quality assured, in line with qualification/assessment requirements
- Experience of working in a regulated environment, in line with quality assurance requirements
- Experience in training and development
- Proven experience of writing clear, accurate and concise reports and action plans
- Driving licence or access to reliable and key transport networks
About the EA role
The key roles and responsibilities of an External Assessor are
- Provide advice and support to the Quality Assurance & Delivery team
- Participate in standardisation activities to ensure a consistent approach to External Assessment
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of City & Guilds policies and procedures
The minimum requirements for the External Assessor Role
- Occupational competence of working within the Construction and Building Services Engineering industry, at a minimum, at the same level as the qualification for which you externally assess
- Occupationally competent within the specific pathway of the qualification that you are assessing – this means that each assessor must be able to carry out the full requirements within the competency units of the pathway that you are assessing. Occupational competence means that you are also occupationally knowledgeable
- Evidence of maintaining current knowledge to include Theories, models, and approaches, legislation, national policy, and regulatory requirements an
- Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement or equivalent legacy Qualifications
- Up to date record and evidence of relevant occupational continuing professional development at the same level or above the qualification for which you will externally assess
- Excellent, concise report writing skills
- Excellent organisational skills, ability to prioritise effectively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience in providing supportive, concise feedback to learners, assessors, and delivery staff
- Flexibility to travel throughout Wales
- Awareness of Welsh language and an understanding of Welsh culture, policy, and context
