Construction – Floorcovering

Level 3

The City & Guilds Construction (Level 3) – Floorcovering is designed to allow learners in work-based learning to develop and enhance their knowledge, skills and understanding of Floorcovering and of how it is performed in Wales.

It is aimed at learners who have either achieved the Foundation in Construction and Building Services Engineering (Level 2) or will be completing the Core in Construction and Building Services Engineering (Level 2) learning and assessments while in their apprenticeship. This qualification, along with employer confirmation, will enable learners to be proven as occupationally proficient.

It is suitable for:

  • learners aged 16+ currently working in the construction sector
  • learners who have either passed the Foundation in Construction and Building Services Engineering qualification or will be completing their Foundation learning and assessments while in their apprenticeship.

The qualification will allow learners to plan and perform Floorcovering projects, against nationally recognised occupational standards, before reviewing and evaluating the quality of the project outputs. Learners will develop the knowledge, skills and understanding of how to perform their roles as part of productive teams and in ways that promote economic, social and environmental sustainability. The qualification will be portable throughout the UK and its aim is to develop learners’ ability to meet the demands of the construction sector in Wales, including working with traditional, new and pre-1919 building stock and understanding new and emerging technologies.

The qualification is designed to be completed on a part-time basis within an apprenticeship. Before the assessments, learners must first demonstrate their performance and capability to the satisfaction of their employer.

On completion, the qualification will provide learners with the skills and knowledge required for the learner to be capable of working in Floorcovering across the UK.
