The Foundation in Construction and Building Services Engineering provides a broad introduction to construction and the built environment. It has been developed for individuals working in or intending to work, in these sectors.

It is aimed at learners in work-based learning, further education and school 6th forms. This qualification will enable learners to go on to study a range of other Level 2 or 3 Construction and Building Services Engineering courses relevant to their trade interest area.

The Progression in Construction has been developed as a post-16 qualification for individuals working in or intending to work in the Construction sector. This qualification will enable learners to go on to study other Level 2 or 3 construction courses relevant to a chosen construction trade.

The qualification is primarily designed for learners to follow on a full time one-year programme of learning. It is aimed at learners who have achieved the Foundation in Construction and Building Services Engineering (Level 2) but do not yet have an apprenticeship.

The Level 2 Core in Construction and Building Services Engineering provides a broad introduction to construction and the built environment. It has been developed for individuals working in or intending to work, in these sectors.

Its primary purpose is to be taken part-time by learners who have secured a Construction or BSE Apprenticeship and not previously completed the Foundation in Construction and Building Services Engineering qualification. This qualification will enable learners to go on to study a range of other Level 2 or 3 Construction and Building Services Engineering (BSE) courses relevant to their trade interest area.

It is usually delivered over one year as a part-time programme of learning within an Apprenticeship framework; or for site operatives who want to widen their knowledge, understanding and skills in the sector more generally.

The City & Guilds Level 3 Construction – Wall & Floor Tiling qualification allows those in work-based learning to demonstrate and enhance their occupational knowledge, skills and understanding this trade. 

It is aimed at learners who have either achieved the Level 2 Foundation in Construction and Building Services Engineering or will be completing the Level 2 Core in Construction and Building Services Engineering learning and assessments while on their apprenticeship. When taken as part of an apprenticeship, this qualification will enable learners to be proven competent and enter employment in this trade, as well as go on to study other level 3 construction courses in other trades.

The City & Guilds Construction (Level 3) – Solid Plastering qualification was developed to allow those in work-based learning to demonstrate and enhance their occupational knowledge, skills and understanding within this trade. 

It is aimed at learners who have either achieved the Level 2 Foundation in Construction and Building Services Engineering or will be completing the Level 2 Core in Construction and Building Services Engineering learning and assessments while on their apprenticeship. When taken as part of an apprenticeship, this qualification will enable learners to be proven competent and enter employment in this trade, as well as go on to study other level 3 construction courses in other trades.

The City & Guilds Construction (Level 3) – Painting and Decorating qualification was developed to allow those in work-based learning to demonstrate and enhance their occupational knowledge, skills and understanding within this trade. 

It is aimed at learners who have either achieved the Level 2 Foundation in Construction and Building Services Engineering or will be completing the Level 2 Core in Construction and Building Services Engineering learning and assessments while on their apprenticeship.
